The School and Community

The Waterville Central School District is made up of students from Waterville, Deansboro, North Brookfield, and Oriskany Falls. All four villages are rural communities. The school itself is 15 miles south of Utica. Although a small district, students are offered numerous academic and extracurricular activities.

Grading System

Grades are calculated on a one hundred (100) point scale. Previous to the 24-25 school year, AP courses were weighted by five (5) points in the weighted GPA. New for the 24-25 school year in the weighted GPA, honors courses are weighted by two (2) points, dual-credit courses are weighted
four (4) points and AP courses are weighted by six (6) points. Both weighted and unweighted GPAs are reported on the transcript. Minimum passing grade is a 65. Juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 90 or higher are eligible for the National Honor Society based on scholarship, character, leadership and citizenship.

Waterville uses a 9 period schedule; classes run 43 minutes.

Courses of Study

Waterville offers a New York State Department of Education approved Career and Technical Education program for agriculture.

Advanced Placement courses are offered in Biology, English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Chemistry and United States History. 

Honors courses include English 9, 10 & 11, Global Studies 9, and Global Studies 10, and are designated by “H” after the name of the course. 

Dual credit courses include Agricultural Economics, Animal Science, Drawing & Design for Production, Elementary Statistics, Environmental Science, Intermediate Math, Introduction to Psychology, Introduction to Sociology, Mandarin Chinese 3, Mandarin Chinese 4, Natural Resources and Conservation, Plant Science, PreCalculus, Spanish 191, 102, 201 & 201, and Visual Communication.
