Waterville CSD is a Title I school, receiving federal funds to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged.
Section 1001. Statement of Purpose:
The purpose of this title is ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and State academic assessments.
Initiatives implemented at the school to ensure increased academic success are:
- Adoption of Common Core Curriculum
- Rigorous, differentiated instruction to all students
- Integrated Co-Teaching model implemented
- Targeted AIS for those qualifying
- Increased time (in minutes) in Math and ELA instruction during the school day
Title I funds are used to:
- Identify students experiencing academic difficulties and providing timely assistance to help students’ meet NYS standards
- Purchase supplementary materials and supplies
- Conduct parent involvement and engagement meetings
- Recruit/hire/retain highly qualified teachers

Parent’s Right to Know
Being a Title I school also means encouraging parental involvement and advocating for parents’ rights.
As per the new Title I legislation, ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) previously titled NCLB (No Child Left Behind), you may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher(s) and paraprofessionals staff.
You may request the following information:
- Whether the teacher has met State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provided instruction;
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived;
- The baccalaureate degree major of the teacher and any other graduate certification or degree; and
- Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualification.
Public Choice Option
Memorial Park is a focus school. There is no other K-6 school in our District so there is no Public Choice Option.
Complaint Process
