Waterville voters approve 2024-25 budget; elect 2 board of education members

Waterville Central School District voters approved the district’s $22,297,968 budget for 2024-25 on May 21. Residents also elected two board of education members and approved the purchase of new buses.

The budget proposition passed with 74.09% voter approval; 266 yes votes and 93 no votes.

Bus proposition
The proposition authorizing the district to purchase five new school buses at a total cost not to exceed $577,273.89 passed with a vote of 265 yes; 96 no

Waterville Public Library proposition
The proposition authorizing the district to levy and collect a tax in the amount of $251,840 for the Waterville Public Library passed with a vote of 281 yes; 80 no

C.W. Clark Memorial Library proposition
The proposition authorizing the district to levy and collect a tax in the amount of $86,807 for the C.W. Clark Memorial Library passed with a vote of 286 yes; 74 no

Waterville Public Library trustees
Two people, Kelly Hildreth and Mary Campbell, ran for two open seats on the Waterville Public Library Board of Trustees. Hildreth received 273 votes and Campbell received 300 votes.

Three candidates sought election to two open board of education seats

The seats are for three-year terms from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027. 

The results are as follows, with the top two with the most votes winning the seats:

Katelyn Worwa, 292 votes
Kenneth Boone, 193 votes
Linda Hughes-Kelly, 178 votes
