Survey results and next steps for district’s grading practices and senior recognition

The Waterville Central School District recently asked the families, staff, students and community members to participate in a survey regarding the district’s grading practices and senior recognition.

The recommendations featured in the survey were formed by talking with the district’s grading committee, teacher leaders and teachers.

The survey was open from May 28 through June 10 and was hosted on ThoughtExchange, an online forum to share thoughts and ideas with a one-question prompt.

In addition to the survey, Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Spring met with senior students. The students also made recommendations that were presented to the board. Those recommendations can be found in this document.

The results from the survey and student focus groups were presented at the June 11 Waterville Board of Education meeting and also can be found in this document.

The survey results and feedback will help inform the Board of Education’s policy committee.

The board will meet on June 25 at 6 p.m. at a special meeting to consider all feedback and discuss which grading practices are ready to be finalized and which ones need further study.
