Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Spring to retire in June 2025

At the Sept. 10 Waterville Board of Education meeting, Dr. Jennifer Spring announced she will retire as the Waterville Central School District Superintendent of Schools, effective June 30, 2025.

“I thank the Board of Education and the community for granting me the privilege to lead the district for four-and-a-half years. I am very proud of our accomplishments and look forward to continuing our work during the 2024-25 school year,” Dr. Spring said.

Dr. Spring has worked in education for more than 30 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent. Prior to her arrival at Waterville in 2021, she served as the Superintendent of the Cohoes City School District in the Capital Region for five-and-a-half years. A native of the Mohawk Valley, Dr. Spring began her career as an English as a second language teacher in the Utica City School District. She also served as a principal in the Utica CSD for six years and as the Principal of New Hartford Senior High School for ten years.

“Serving as the Waterville superintendent has been such a rewarding experience. The teachers and staff rank among the best I have worked with in my entire career as an educator. The students continually impress me with their genuine care for each other, their active involvement in school activities, their contribution to a positive school culture and their love for Bear and Ginger,” Dr. Spring said.

The board will conduct a search for the next district superintendent. Additional information about the search process will be shared when applicable.
