Waterville Board of Education appoints new MPS principal

At its August 6 meeting, the Waterville Board of Education approved the appointment of Kathy Zangrilli as Memorial Park Elementary School (MPS) principal.

Zangrilli has served as an assistant middle school principal in the Oneida City School District since July 2022. She taught first grade in Oneida for 15 years and fourth grade for one year before being named the assistant principal.

She earned her bachelor of science in childhood education at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oneonta and completed her Masters of Education in Literacy (Birth-age 6) at SUNY Oswego. She also received a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from SUNY Oswego.

“I am honored to join the Waterville community. As I start this journey as principal, I look forward to supporting our students, staff and families to create an exceptional educational experience for all, “ Zangrilli said.

“I am thrilled to be welcoming Mrs. Zangrilli as the next principal of Memorial Park School. She is an exceptional educator and I am confident MPS will continue to thrive under her leadership,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jennifer Spring.

Zangrilli lives in Sherrill with her husband, three boys, and a puppy. Her children will be entering fourth grade, sixth grade, and eighth grade in the Vernon Verona Sherrill Central School District.

The Waterville Jr./Sr. High School principal position is still being finalized. Updates will be shared once they are available.
