Five Waterville Future Farmers of America students were honored at the Oneida County Envirothon on April 28 as they finished third overall.
The competition tests students’ knowledge in five subject areas: soils, aquatics, wildlife, forestry and current environmental issues.
Team members Jesse Jandreau, Jacon Hafelin, Quinn Mayne, Cooper Patterson and Austin Florenz placed third overall while finishing in first place in forest and wildlife and second place in aquatics.
The Waterville Agricultural Education Program offers several courses where students learn about our environment, how to conserve natural resources, the role our government plays and even how we can advocate for change.
FFA is the leadership portion of agriculture education which promotes hands-on application of what is learned in class.
